New Shipping… Again!

As if all the changes I've made weren't enough, I was recently surprised by a need to do a massive change to my distribution and supply chain. So long as things go well, most of you will be pretty happy so it shouldn't be a big deal from most of my customers' point of view.

The bottom line is that I'm bringing much of my shipping back to the US. This means shipping costs will go down for many US shipments, particularly saving overall costs for orders of small items. Getting everything reorganized so quickly has kept me entirely wrapped up in this so I haven't been able to put much time or effort into the rest of Redpants, but there's still more going on in the background.

New shipping and distribution

Obviously, this is the big thing so let’s get through it first. I’ll be doing a somewhat gradual roll-out of inventory stocking with my new shipping point in the US. This will only affect certain items, but will probably have a big affect as much of what will be shipping from there will be smaller items that were hit with unpleasantly high shipping costs when shipped from the UK and EU. Some items will still be shipping from overseas so it may take some time to balance things out. I’ll be testing quite a bit to make sure everything is working right but if you notice anything crazy happening, please let me know.

Redpants products are coming back

Aside from better shipping rates for many US-based customers, bringing shipping back to the US means I can also bring back some of the Redpants products that went out of production. My goal is to get my Oil Catch Can Kits and Lightweight Battery Kits back in stock, as well as getting a resupply of my Lightweight Lug Nuts. Some products may not return, like my Redpants intake air filters - this is entirely due to policy changes from the manufacturer. Basically, their minimum annual order requirement is about double my actual demand, so it makes it completely infeasible to continue working with them. If I can get them to work with me, I’ll bring back the intake filters.

The GMR Supercharger Kits are still in the works

Testing with the new manufacturer for one of the major components is still underway. Once we’re satisfied with testing and with the initial production run, we’ll be moving forward with offering these kits again. There are some major changes so the new offerings are going to be quite different than they were before the pandemic shut everything down, so stay tuned for updates and announcements.

I won’t be attending the AMHT Festival this weekend

My apologies to everyone that was expecting to see me there, but I had to cancel my trip to England for the AMHT event this weekend. Instead, I’m heading over to the US East Coast to set up my new shippers. I was extremely excited for the trip and even more-so disappointed when I was forced to cancel. So, I’m sorry to everyone that I told I would be there.

Newsletter database problem

I just found out that the Newsletter Subscription form on the Redpants home page was not properly configured, so it was saving email addresses to a database that I don’t actually use. I sent out a “newsletter” to that database to let those people know of the issue but, in case it was missed by anyone in that database, I wanted to mention it again here as well. If you were already signed up for my newsletters and didn’t get the actual one today, or if you got the one that says to re-subscribe, please do so again on the home page. Sorry for any confusion or inconvenience!
